AMG Publisher’s How to Develop A Quiet Time 40-Day Bible Study review – Rating 9.4

AMG Publishers' How to Develop a Quiet Time A 40-day Journey by Eddie RasnakeI have done a few reviews on Bible Studies in the aspect of pre-written studies that walk you through the lessons, but I haven’t done a lot of them. This one, however, caught my attention as it is a topic that I feel is sadly lacking in a large portion of Christianity as a whole. We tend to get involved in our daily routine and often think back in regret over the lost opportunities of spending quality time with God in exchange for our busy schedules.
I would give this book a 9.4 out of my normal 10 point rating scale.  On a “5 star” scale that some websites use, I would give it a 5-star rating.

In full disclosure, I was not required or requested by AMG Publishers to write a positive review.  The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255: “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

We all think it from time to time – I really should spend more time with God, praying, reading His Word, studying it as well, getting to know Him better, and the list goes on. We often are full of regret when we really stop to think about it. Our lives get so busy that it seems one of the first things we put off and say “I’ll do that tomorrow” is simply spending time with the Lord.

Or maybe you are someone who never really has (or knows how to) spent time with God in a very personal way. Every single person has been there at least once in their lives.

How to Develop a Quiet Time: A Forty-Day Journey” written by Eddie Rasnake is part of the Following God Discipleship Series from AMG Publishers. It is a really well written Bible study that I think will help many people develop a closer relationship with the Lord through time spent with Him on a daily basis.

From a format perspective, each week has a well-written introduction section that explains the importance of the overarching topic that you will be studying for the week. Then within that week, each day is broken down into a subject related to that week’s topic that dives into a deeper lesson. Following each day’s lesson, there is an area for you to write down the main ideas that spoke to you in that day’s lesson. Continuing on with the A.C.T.S. concept (Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication), the author helps us start to develop that personal prayer and communion time with God. Each of the day’s lessons is concluded with a Scripture that you can pray followed by the main point to remember from the lesson as well as other main ideas to take away from the lesson.

The six weeks in this study go over the following six topics: Pursuit, Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Scripture Reading and finally, Prayer and Supplication. It is done in a way that progresses each week and each lesson in a way that each part feeds nicely into the whole lesson and purpose of the book.

I really feel that this book would be very beneficial if you are someone who has been either simply considering or deeply desiring to develop a more personal relationship with the Lord. This book is written very well and progresses the reader incrementally into a closer relationship with Jesus.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for this review from AMG Publishers and all opinions are my own.

The Goal of This Book:

From the preface of the book, the author states that “this book was created to be a resource to help people grow in the adventure that time with God was meant to be“. I really feel that with how the author created this Bible Study, he really did an excellent job of showing people the importance of spending time with God is and also how to incorporate time with God into your daily routine.

My Favorite Part:

I really liked how the author formatted this Bible Study, making it very easy to follow and grow with each lesson provided. The progression of each lesson is handled very well and builds nicely upon each other as you go through the 40-day journey to having a personal quiet time with God on a daily basis.

My Personal Recommendation:

I found this book to be a very good read and excellent 40-day lesson. This is one that I would recommend for certain if you have ever had a hard time with understanding what having a daily quiet time with God is all about, or if you understand it but have never done it yet.
