Moody Publishing’s Kingdom Disciples review – Rating 9.6

Moody Publishers' Kingdom Disciples by Tony EvansKingdom Disciples: Heaven’s Representatives on Earth” is the first book that I have personally read of Dr. Tony Evans.  This book is a very challenging book as it calls us to not simply rest as Christians, but to become true Kingdom Disciples where we are following him in every area of our lives based on the Scriptures and helping others to become disciples as well.  Very well written and highly recommended.  This will not be the last Tony Evans book that I read for sure.  You really should strongly consider getting this book.  See the links below in this post to purchase it so you can read it and start to grow as a true Kingdom Disciple.
I would give this book a 9.6 out of my normal 10 point rating scale.  On a “5 star” scale that some websites use, I would give it a 5 star rating.

In full disclosure, I was not required or requested by Moody to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 <> : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”

Kingdom Disciples: Heaven’s Representatives on Earth” by Tony Evans is a book that I had a hard time putting down. This is the first book I have read by Dr Evans, but based on this one, I know it won’t be my last.

Dr. Evans challenges us in this engaging book to go deeper in our relationship with our Lord and Savior. He accurately shows the delineation between just being a Christian and being a true Kingdom Disciple.

It’s a question of counting the cost of being a disciple and Dr. Evans effectively shows the points so you are able to count the cost. Not everyone will be willing to do this, but there is a life in the side of discipleship that will give you amazing peace and joy no matter what circumstances you may be facing.

The book is written in three parts which flow seamlessly into each other and build upon each other. First, Dr. Evans covers the Foundation of Kingdom Discipleship giving us a very good understanding of what discipleship is and what it would cost us. Following that, he goes into the Formation of Kingdom Discipleship where he goes into how we can be formed into true Kingdom Disciples if we choose to do so. Finally, he goes further into the Function of Kingdom Discipleship. In this final section, Dr. Evans shows he Kingdom Discipleship should function within yourself as an individual, then within your personal family, then within your church and also within the community in which you live.

Are you ready to dive deeper? Ready to have deep intimacy with Jesus Christ and function properly in the role of a Kingdom Disciple? If so, then this book is one that you really need to read. Take your time through it as there are excellent truths in this book.

Highly recommended to say the least.  I received a copy of this book in exchange for this review from Moody Publishers and all opinions are my own.

Goal of Book:

The goal of this book as stated by the author is “to advance God’s kingdom agenda, which is the visible manifestation of God’s comprehensive rule over every area of our life“. Dr. Evans does a fantastic job of showing how to accomplish this in our own lives as long as we are willing to count the cost, accept that cost and move into the process of becoming a Kingdom Disciple.  Very well done!

My Favorite Part:

I really appreciated the chapter on “The Individual” as it really pointed me to look at myself and shows how I can lean on Christ more and find rest in Him. Very well written. Appendix A is very practical and good, so you shouldn’t overlook this one! It is a list of things that you can do and apply to your life to help you move into Kingdom Discipleship.  It things that you can do on multiple levels including individual, your family, your church and your community.  Very practical and helpful!
