How often do we have this fear within us when it comes to sharing our faith with others. I’m not talking about sharing your faith with another believer while sitting at their house drinking coffee. I’m talking about sharing the Gospel with someone who is not a believer yet. We often have that shudder that we aren’t good enough, or we don’t know enough, or we don’t have enough Scripture memorized, or that dreaded “What if they start asking me questions” feeling of inadequacy that overcomes us. I was very pleased to read through Alvin L. Reid’s book “Sharing Jesus (without freaking out): Evangelism the way you were meant to do it” when I received it from B&H Academic through their B&H Bloggers program. I would highly encourage any believer to get a copy of this book in their hands to help them easily reach others around them.
I received a copy of this book from B&H Bloggers / B&H Academic for me to do a review on it. In full disclosure, I was not required or requested by B&H Academic to write a positive review.
I would give this book a 9.4 out of my normal 10 point rating scale. On a “5 star” scale that some websites use, I would give it a very solid 5 star rating.

So many times, I have heard it… and I’m even guilty of it myself. We put a formula to how we share the Gospel with others. I won’t go into the different “popular” formulas here, but suffice it to say it can be more of a shotgun approach that is more like a business presentation. We often just try to as quickly as possible get the person to recite the prayer of salvation that so many of us know so well.
Alvin L. Reid put together this book to provide more of a natural manner in which we can share the Gospel with others. This alleviates the infamous “fear factor” of feeling like we have to know the answer to any possible question or argument that someone may come up with. It is a refreshing way of looking at evangelism that if people were to take hold of, would make a huge impact on the Kingdom of God. I really appreciate the practical approach that the author took with the subject of evangelism and took it from what we all learned as a “presentation” to real-live conversations and relationships.
At the end of the book, the author provides an eight week challenge where he encourages the reader to apply what is taught in each of these eight chapters. I would very highly recommend this book – especially to anyone who has ever felt that “fear factor” when it comes to sharing the Gospel with others.
I received a copy of this book and chart in exchange for my honest review.

|Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out: Evangelism the Way You Were Born to Do It
By Alvin L. Reid / B&H AcademicYou were born for this. God hardwired you—yes, you—for this. I’m talking about sharing Jesus with others. What if I told you evangelism is less about delivering a polished presentation and more about having a real conversation? What if I told you that God has created you to bring glory to himself by sharing Jesus with others, and that you don’t need years of training to obey what he already made you to do? God created you for his glory to advance his gospel with the gifts, talents, and opportunities he gave you. You live at this time in history for a purpose bigger than yourself.Alvin Reid’s Sharing Jesus Without Freaking Out reveals how to connect the gospel story with your story, and how to talk about that story in normal conversations with people you know. No gimmicks. Nothing clever. No need to freak out. Just you, Jesus, and others—in conversations that matter.
Typeface and Print:
The ease of reading this book was very good. Good printing and opaque paper make this easy to read the text on every page with very little show-through.
Ease of Use:
Readability of this book was very good. It has a very nice flow and the author really explains the topic very well. The eight week challenge at the end of the book is an excellent yet practical way to apply what the author is teaching his readers.
