I was very pleased to receive a copy of Moody Publishers’ “Prayer: Communing with God in Everything”. This book is a collection of insights on the topic of prayer from A.W. Tozer and is compiled by W. L. Seaver. I have to be honest, I never tire of reading things from Tozer as his writing style was so practical and honest, yet at the same time, it really cuts to the soul. This book that W. L. Seaver compiled is no different and is an excellent book to read. I highly recommend it. Works from Tozer never disappoint and the added commentary portion and application thoughts by W. L. Seaver are excellent.
I would give this book a 9.3 out of my normal 10 point rating scale. On a “5 star” scale that some websites use, I would give it a 5 star rating.
In full disclosure, I was not required or requested by Moody to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255 <http://www.access.gpo.gov/nara/cfr/waisidx_03/16cfr255_03.html> : “Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising.”
“Prayer: Communing with God in Everything” is an excellent book to read. This book is compiled by W.L. Seaver and pulls from multiple books and sermons by A.W. Tozer. I have read a few books that contain the works of Tozer and I am never disappointed by his work in any way. His writings and teachings are solid, but easy to understand and very practical. Plus at the end of each of the 28 chapters, W.L. Seaver provides a further summary of Tozer’s writings and then 4 to 5 points that he provides to reflect on what you read and providing some application points as well. This is very well written, convicting and encouraging. I will be putting this book in my personal library and reading this book more than once for sure. Highly recommended to say the least. I received a copy of this book in exchange for this review from Moody Publishers and all opinions are my own.

|Prayer: Communing with God in Everything–Collected Insights from A.W. Tozer
By Compiled by W.L. Seaver / Moody PublishersTozer was that rare bird, an evangelical who was also something of a mystic with a literary flair. Seaver has pulled together the finest insights from Tozer’s voluminous writings, including “Some churches now advertise courses on how to pray. How ridiculous! That is like giving a course in how to fall in love.” 224 pages, softcover. Moody.
- Patent (perfect/square back) bound
- 224 pages
- Dimensions: 5.25 x 8
Goal of Book:
The goal of this book is to help point us via Scriptures to the fact that prayer should not be a task to do, but rather a way of life. Pointing out how we often are too busy for prayer and communing regularly with God. This book does an exceptional job pointing us to the Scriptures related to prayer, providing practical examples and application points that convict us to want a more intimate communion with God through prayer.
My Favorite Part:
Like most books that are compiled with the works of Tozer, this book has a strong scriptural basis. It really provides practical truth direct from the Word of God relating to having a life of prayer. It is VERY well written by Tozer’s works, but also by Seaver who did some excellent summaries and reflection and application points at the end of every chapter.
I would highly recommend this book to anyone who honestly desires to have more of an intimate relationship with God through prayer. It is very well written by both Tozer’s as well as Seaver’s portion.
