We got up this morning after what we wished was a restful night. For some reason we were all waking up every hour or so during the night. Oh well… I can seep in the plane. Lol. Had a nice breakfast at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockford before we headed to the Van Galder bus to take us to OHare.
We got to OHare without any problem and got our bags checked in with Canada Air. Security wasn’t very bad at all. It took us probably 25 minutes in total.
So those that have traveled with me will appreciate my relaxed mood since we got to the gate with about 4 hours to spare. Lol. I normally like to have a 2 hour window. 🙂
I’ve noticed that as I get older, I tend to be a little more emotional and can get choked up more easily. With that said, I have a feeling that I will end up tearing up at the very least since going to Israel is something that I have wanted to do for many years. More likely, I will be a blubbering mess at points. Lol. We will see how I do over the next 9 days.
Long story short, we made it to Toronto with no issues then we had about a 2 hour layover before we took off on Canada Air’s big Dreamliner plane to Tel Aviv, Israel. The flight was smooth but it was long. We did not opt for the high prices of upgraded seats so it was a little cramped. Everyone on the plane was so nice though. I ended up sleeping for maybe 4 hours. My wife and mother-in-law did not fare as well in the sleep.
So after we landed and went through customers and got our luggage, it was off to meet our Pilgrim Tours representative. We had to wait for the last couple for a while because unfortunately the airlines either didn’t deliver his luggage or someone else may have inadvertently grabbed his bag instead of theirs.
Then we were loaded onto the small shuttle bus and headed to the Seasons Hotel for one night. Here are a couple of shots of the view from our 9th floor room:
We were tired but had to go walk the beach of the Mediterranean Sea since we are right on it. So, down the seemingly endless flights of stairs to the beach…this pic is near the end of the stairs so it loses all the effect. Lol
Then walking along the beach there were thousands of small shells, cool rocks and dead coral as well. The weather here is very pleasant; not too hot and not too cold. However that does make for some chilly toes and feet when you take your shoes off and walk in the water of the Mediterranean Sea. Lol
Our hotel from the beach:
Some of you may not know this about my wife, but she loves finding rocks in nature that are naturally shaped like a heart. A pretty rare find to say the least. However, on this beach she found quite a few of them and decided to take a shot of this composition (I happen to like it):
Right now, the ladies are downstairs working in grabbing a bite to eat. We think there is a dinner for the tour group tonight and then we meet our Israeli guide for a meeting at 8pm.
Then the busy schedule starts tomorrow morning! We are all pretty tired so it will likely be to bed as early as possible for us.
More updates to come as soon as I am able to get internet access to post them! See you guys soon!
