Moody Publishers’ Tozer for the Christian Leader devotional book review – Rating 9.8

A.W. Tozer for the Christian Leader 365 day devotional

Moody Publishing’s Tozer for the Christian Leader – a 365-Day Devotional

Moody Publishers’ “Tozer for the Christian Leader” is a very good 365 day devotional that was compiled by Ron Eggert.  Eggert intelligently pulls together 365 quick daily devotions from 47 different Tozer books. I have really enjoyed going through many of these very insightful and concise devotions.  Much appreciation to Moody Publishers for sending me a copy to review.  It is a very good book and found it very helpful personally.

I would give this book a 9.8 out of my normal 10 point rating scale.  On a “5 star” scale that some websites use, I would give it a pretty solid 5 star rating.

QUICK SUMMARY:

“Tozer for the Christian Leader” is a very nicely put together series of daily devotionals that do gear toward Christian leaders, but I wouldn’t say that it is limited to just leaders by any means.  These quick devotionals are grouped nicely into topics for each month.  For example, the devotion topics for January are geared towards “Personal Life” and for February they are on “The Holy Spirit”.  A.W. Tozer really does have a powerful way with presenting Scriptures in a convicting and personal way that I can really relate to.  Ron Eggert did a very nice job capturing so many of Tozer’s highlights of his other books and putting them into a daily devotional format.  Very nicely done and highly recommended if you are looking for a very good daily devotional book.  I received a copy of this book in exchange for this review from Moody Publishers and all opinions are my own.

Goal of Book:

The goal of this particular daily devotional is geared toward the Christian that is in some kind of leadership role, although any Christian could really get a lot out of this book.  Tozer had such as way of bringing the wisdom of the Scriptures in a way to help people really understand them.  Ron Eggert did a very nice job in getting these devotions compiled from may of A.W. Tozer’s books and writings.

My Favorite Part:

I really like and appreciate how Eggert was able to take so much wonderful wisdom and insights from Tozer’s books and intelligently consolidate them into short daily devotions.  Very nicely done!

My Least Favorite Part:

Honestly, I have no negative points to this devotional book.  Yes, I wish the devotions were a little bit longer, but at the same time, this is designed to be a quick daily devotional.  Ron Eggert really did do a very nice job consolidating portions of A.W. Tozer’s writings into wonderful short daily devotions.

Recommendation:

For me, this book has become a devotional book that I will be using on a daily basis for my own Christian walk.  It is very nicely done and highly recommended.

Who Would Enjoy This Book:

As I mentioned earlier in this review, even though this book is titled “…for the Christian Leader”, I honestly feel that 90% or more of these devotions would apply to every Christian.  Yes, I would highly recommend this for Christians in any leadership role, but also the same for anyone wanting to gain a closer walk with the Lord.
